West First Wood-Fired

Overview

If you're in Hendersonville, NC, and craving a delicious meal that will hit all the right spots, West First Wood-Fired should be at the top of your list. Located at 101B 1st Ave W, this cozy eatery brings a fresh take on wood-fired cooking, offering an experience that's as warm and inviting as its menu.

The restaurant's focus is on bringing the flavors of wood-fired cooking into every dish, from pizzas to hearty entrees. You can immediately tell that this isn't just another diner. The open wood-fired oven in the center of the kitchen adds a rustic charm, and the smoke rising from it offers an irresistible promise of the bold flavors you'll soon be tasting.

One of the best parts about dining here is the variety on the menu. Whether you're in the mood for a simple wood-fired pizza, a tender steak, or a delicious vegetarian dish, West First Wood-Fired has something to offer. Their pizzas, in particular, are a standout. With a perfectly crisp crust and fresh, high-quality toppings, each bite is a balance of smokiness and savory goodness. The Margherita pizza is a fan favorite, but the ever-changing specials ensure that there's always something new to try.

The atmosphere here is another highlight. With a modern yet cozy interior, it's the type of place where you can enjoy a relaxing meal with friends or family. The warm, inviting ambiance makes it perfect for a casual dinner or a special celebration. The friendly staff adds to the welcoming vibe, ensuring that your dining experience is nothing short of fantastic.

If you're not in the mood for pizza, the wood-fired entrees are equally impressive. For instance, the wood-fired chicken with rosemary is a tender, flavorful dish that perfectly showcases the magic of cooking over an open flame. The meat is juicy and infused with a deep, smoky flavor that you can't get with traditional cooking methods. Pair it with a fresh salad or their famous roasted vegetables for a complete meal.

Another dish worth mentioning is the grilled salmon, which benefits from the wood-fired technique. The salmon is cooked to perfection, with a delicate crisp on the outside while staying tender and flaky on the inside. It’s a great option for those who want something light yet packed with flavor.

But don't just take my word for it-this place has received stellar reviews. Local foodies rave about the food quality and the consistency of the menu. It's clear that the chefs here take great pride in crafting each dish with attention to detail. Whether it's the unique char from the wood fire or the balance of flavors, West First Wood-Fired delivers on all fronts.

And while the food is the star of the show, it's worth mentioning the drinks as well. The wine list is thoughtfully curated, with options that pair beautifully with the wood-fired dishes. Whether you prefer a crisp white or a bold red, there’s something here that complements your meal. If you're in the mood for something a bit more casual, the local craft beers are also a great choice.

For dessert, the wood-fired chocolate cake offers a decadent ending to your meal. Rich, moist, and just the right level of sweetness, it’s a perfect way to round off your dining experience.

The location at 101B 1st Ave W is easy to find, tucked in the heart of Hendersonville. It's an ideal spot to grab a bite after a day of exploring the charming downtown area. The restaurant’s outdoor seating also makes it a great choice during the warmer months, offering a lovely place to enjoy the food with the fresh air.

Whether you're a local or just visiting, West First Wood-Fired is a must-try spot in Hendersonville. From its expertly crafted menu to its inviting atmosphere, it delivers a dining experience that leaves you wanting more.

West First has always been the go to for thin crust oven fired pizza. Our waitress tonight was refreshingly honest that today’s special may have been a little over the top for simple tastes. I got the Italian sausage thin crust and it was perfect! Many thanks and kudos for your candor.

When arriving with a party, everyone must be there in order to be seated. Six or more people gratuity is added. I got the potato pizza. Really good. Servers will place glasses & water pitchers onto the table. So you serve yourself some water. Service was good. Seating comfortable. There are a few more choices than pizza such as pastas & sandwiches. Bathrooms were clean, had three stalls. There are paper towels or a blow dryer. When you first walk through the doors there is a hand sanitizer station.

Pizza was delicious, with a perfect crust! We also had their key lime pie and coming from FL, it was very decadent. We sat at the bar for a late bite and the service was attentive.

Thursday evening pizza with my husband. Loved the Butternut pizza. ! Megan, our waitress was excellent for recommending craft breweries in town. Food came quickly, hot and delicious

The food tasted great. My wife really liked her chicken Alfredo pasta. I had a pesto pasta with salmon. The atmosphere with the brick walls was nice. Lunch prices were high. $17 for Alfredo pasta and $8 more to add the chicken. $17 just for pasta with sauce…

In need of a great lunch spot providing fresh food? I can happily tell you I stumbled upon this one while in town and before flying out, I was so happy with my decision compared to settling for the ever consistent overpriced airport food and with far less quality and attention given to that food…. We had a salad and two pizzas fresh out their brick oven which I took a picture of as not many places have their oven out in the open and kneading that dough right in front of you and I like that added feature. It was fresh as mentioned and very tasty, I left with that perfectly full stomach without that bloated feeling and that’s when you know you had a great meal. Service was perfect with a smile inside/out. Ample seating options indoor and outdoor and upstairs seating as well

My family and I ate here when visiting Hendersonville last week. The food was so good, we came back only a few days later to order pizza after hiking. Our favorite dishes were the mushroom pizza, veggie pizza, Greek chicken pizza, and the Mediterranean chicken pasta. We also ordered the dessert special which was some unique blackberry, peach dish that was amazing. Our server was super sweet and attentive when we dined in and the food was ready even quicker than we thought when we ordered out! We will definitely be coming back next time we are in town! Highly recommend!!!

First time eating here. Wonderful atmosphere, great service and the pizza was great. The penne alla vodka wasn't the traditional dish I've been served from my Italian family. It was more of a red sauce but it was still ok. Wouldn't get again. The homemade garlic knots were drenched in garlic and butter which made the bread drenched and just not able to eat but a 1/2 one. The pizza is 5 stars all the way. Would go back just for the wood fire pizza.
